Cox Boxes -

We have 3 of the new NK type cox boxes

The Facts

8’s

·        The 3 Eights all use the NK cox boxes. Because they have new wiring, the NK cox boxes will also give RATINGS as well as powering the speakers.

·        Just plug em in and off you go !!

4’s

·         All 4 of our coxed 4's use the NK cox boxes

·         Catch Me Quick is the only one with new wiring and therefore is the only 4 where the cox box does speakers and rating.

·         Stroke Me Gently - this uses one of the small (red or white ) NK ratemeters that is plugged into the T bar

·         Anne Southey - at the moment, it has one of the small "blue" ratemeters that stay in the boat the whole time

·         Four Play - at the moment, it has one of the small "blue" ratemeters that stay in the boat the whole time.

The old DRT cox boxes still work (just) but should not be used unless in an emergency.

Some do’s and don’t you dare’s

Do

P  Treat all the cox boxes and ratemeters with more respect – it is £2000 of kit

P  Put them back neatly and not all tangled up with each other

P  TURN THEM OFF when you have finished - otherwise they will go flat and then some poor person will have to cox without a coxbox

P  MAKE SURE THE CONNECTORS ARE ALIGNED – please do not force it as this can break the pins, and will therefore not work

P  If the ratemeters in Anne Southey / Four Play are falling out or not fixed correctly, tell Dave before they break or fall in the river.

Don’t

P  Pick up the cox boxes by the headsets

P  Put them down in the mud

P  Jump out of the boat still connected to the wiring and rip the connector off

P  Leave them in the boat and then chuck the boat up and sling the cox box in the river.

The cry of "Its not working Dave" will usually be met with a response of "That's because someone has bloody broken it!!" - they very rarely go wrong, they are usually broken by mis-use.
