The season has begun with one Head Race under our belts.
Congratulations to all the crews racing in the Pairs Head. Well done to Jacky and Pauline for winning their category.
Special thanks also to all the BBLers who helped in the catering core and also the volunteers who helped in the timing team, with a number of our new Get fit and row recruits helping out. Its great to have willing volunteers across the club.
Racing crews are preparing for Fours Head and Vets Fours Head on weekend 10/11 November. We have crews from all squads Vets, Senior, Intermediate and Happy Monday’s entering the races. More details on crews once the draw has been released.
Sad news
Club President, Rubina Curtis has passed on the sad news that Valerie Smith died last Saturday (20 October 2012) at a nursing home, less than a week after her 92nd birthday.
Rubina tells me Valerie Smith was one of BBLRC’s oldest veterans. She retained great interest in the Club to the end and very many younger veterans will have been in crews coxed by her.
