Captain’s Update

Well, we’ve had a frustrating start to the rowing year, with difficult tideway conditions and our our first races at Weybridge Head being cancelled.  In spite of this and with thanks to our stalwart coaching team and ever good humoured coxes – we have made the best of things and been out when we could.

It was a Happy Day on Saturday with the sun shining (at least on the marshalling) for Quintin Head – our first race of the year. Cracking performance from our IM3 8 coming 5th out of 29, and taking 5 seconds off the esteemed Cygnet Masters.  Thanks to cox Anna.
Thanks also to the tea stall champs.  Charlotte and Karen G spent a good 3 hours peddling Michelle’s delicious bacon sandwiches, and even scrubbing the pan afterwards!

Next big race is Hammersmith Head, on 20th February.  We have two Intermediate and one Novice 8 entered, and look forward to seeing many more of you down to cheer and sell cake.
Before that we have two 4+’s at TVTH on Sunday at Dorney – good luck ladies.
Our Novice Squad had their Squad Meeting on Saturday – what a lot of enthusiasm there! and so many of them!  Still determined in spite of the yellow flags and cancelled outings.  They’re looking forward to their first race at Hammermsith Head (but what shall I wear?)  Any coxing help you can give to get the crew out is really appreciated – as ever.

Sunday 7th February BBL Time Trial followed by BBL Work Day – save the date.
Our BBL AGM is on Wednesday February 10th at 7pm in the bar – I hope to see many of you there.
That’s it for now – happy rowing ladies and see you soon.
