Captain’s update 23/07

Whilst I was away we had the Barnes Fair. It was super hot which sadly seemed to keep the customers away. However some great prizes donated by John Inverdale generated a significant amount to our fundraising total. Once I’ve been updated by the team I will confirm, but I understand its in the region of £700. Thanks to all who volunteered, special mention to Caroline Bell-Sayer who donated her van once again, Katy Baldwin for organising the volunteers and stand and of course John for donating some great prizes.

Get fit and row 2013

Next up is the start of our Get fit and row course. We are holding the course in the same format as last year. It will be six weeks of three sessions per week. Once again we’ve had a great response via the website. This activity is the life blood of the club and contributes the most funding outside of annual subs. Depending on numbers for the course we will run multiple erg/tank sessions so we will need lots of volunteers, especially when we start the on the water sessions. You don’t have to be trained coach!

There will be a nominations sheet posted at the club. We welcome nominations for:

– Vice Captain, currently Katy Owen

– Deputy Captain, currently Jenny

– Novice Captain, currently Lisa

– HM Captain, currently Jo Broadhurst

If you have any questions about any of the roles, please do not hesitate to contact myself or one of the existing Captains.
