Captain’s update 18/06

Quick one today to update everyone on our awesome evening last week with our Patron, John Inverdale. It was a great team effort with members from both BBL and Cygnet involved with rowing, cooking and picture taking. John had a great time but he wants us work him a bit harder next time – so to the Pink Lodge it is!

To read more about the evening and see lots of great photos, including the launch namings, see the post on our website:

I’ve had a splurge on the website so we’ll all up to date. If you’re new to the club or to this newsletter, you can see my previous Captain’s updates on the website:

Coming up…
We have two great events coming up – Barnes Fair, Saturday 13 July – where we will be holding a Erg Challenge again. If it doesn’t rain quite so much this year it will be a lucrative fundraiser. If you’re not able to volunteer we also need cakes and PRIZES. Last year the challenge was particularly popular with the under 16’s, so anything suitable is gratefully received.

We are Joining in again with an Open Day on Sunday 28th July, for those interested in rowing and signing up for the next Get fit and row course. The course will run for six weeks. I’ll organise some volunteer schedules for coaching erg and tank sessions closer to the time. If you can spare an hour please let me know.

Henley Women’s Regatta
The countdown to HWR is finally here! The crew have familiarised themselves with the booms at Henley and we wish them the very best. I will be there on the bank both cheering and being a very proud Captain.
