Twickenham Regatta Off, Eurovison ON

Twickenham Regatta has been cancelled unfortunately – formal statement from their regatta committee “due soon”.

Whilst we know any entered crews will be disappointed the GREAT NEWS is that the Eurovision party in the boathouse bar will still be on, from 7pm.

Te veo alli. On se voit la-bas. See you there.

Borne Regatta, 9th May 2015

It’s Borne Regatta tomorrow it’s always a fabulous day, in no small part due to many of the organisers being the same wonderful people who keep BBL & Cygnet organised on a day in and day out basis. If you’re wondering exactly who, have a look at who isn’t in a boat tomorrow (and then say thank you to them!).

SuCo and JoB have excelled themselves putting together the mixed IVs and we can’t wait to see who will win  between the Lemon Tarts and Spotted Dicks (good thing they are mixed boats!) or if the Sherry Trifles will apple crumble at the hands of Eton Mess. Some crews are gunning for knickerbocker glory and none want to look like a gooseberry fool.

Do come down and cheer the crews on, plus expect there to be drinks in the bar afterwards, hopefully drunk from pewter.

Chiswick Bridge Arch Closure

The Middlesex Arch of Chiswick Bridge is now closed & shouldn’t be used (the Scullers’/MAA side). This doesn’t affect our ‘normal’ outings and normal navigation rules apply, but please be aware. This applies until Tuesday 19th May.

That’s the Head Season Done

A brilliant weekend – cracking days on Saturday & Sunday and great to see both Vet’s Head and HORR largely unaffected by the weather, even if there was some horrid wind on Saturday and grim conditions on Sunday. Fab efforts from all crews, with a special mention to Jackie D brining home yet another pennant in her mixed Masters F composite – congratulations.

Also thanks to Vicky for organising the catering and an army of helpers who raised a huge amount (a record?) for the club coffers. Thanks too to everyone who helped with boating, general odd jobs and making all of the visiting crews welcome.

And finally, always good to see a bar full of happy rowers, including our Benrath friends. Krummepitsch anyone?
